Gault&Millau's review 2026

Here, the sea is not merely a view - it arrives directly on the plate. The kitchen follows the rhythm of the morning catch, the seasons, and the traditions of Istrian and Mediterranean cuisine, with freshness always taking center stage. Guests are welcomed by a relaxed Primorska atmosphere, and when lunch begins with warm, freshly baked homemade bread, it is immediately clear that something memorable is about to follow. Especially when that bread is spread with creamy salt cod enriched with truffles and finished with drops of extra virgin olive oil, while delicate sea bass carpaccio appears alongside it on the table. These are the kinds of opening bites that quietly say everything: here, the sea feels truly at home. The menu is built around daily fresh fish and Adriatic delicacies, prepared in various ways. The kitchen skilfully combines traditional recipes with a contemporary touch, yet without unnecessary complication. The flavours remain pure, balanced, and expressive, beautifully complemented by a glass of carefully selected wine. On warmer days, something refreshing feels especially welcome, which is why homemade ice cream and fruit-based desserts are favourites. Guests who prefer richer flavours will find it hard to resist the chocolate soufflé or the house dessert, Santalucia. The atmosphere remains faithful to the spirit of a traditional seaside fish tavern, making this a place where guests gladly slow down - for good food and enjoyable company.
