Chef's Restaurant
Did you know that beneath the mountains of the Soča Valley you can still feel the rhythm of the sea? Visit Topli val, a family-run restaurant with more than half a century of tradition, where dishes are created with deep respect for local ingredients and the freshness of the sea served on every plate. Guests are welcomed with a glass of sparkling wine and a delicate buckwheat blini topped with local sour cream, while a gentle monkfish pâté is enriched with trout roe. We were captivated by the platter of raw seafood delicacies, showcasing refined French oysters, Dalmatian cockles, fresh Adriatic scampi, tuna carpaccio with a subtle touch of spicy ginger and wasabi, and sea bass brightened with refreshing citrus notes. For a warm starter, we recommend the spaghetti with clams and scallops in a lightly spicy white buzara sauce. And the main course? That depends on your mood. Lovers of the sea can enjoy the daily catch prepared in the oven or on the grill, while meat enthusiasts will be delighted by the rich flavour of aged venison fillet, Kobarid style. Topli val is a place where the flavours of the sea and mountains come together to create a contemporary gourmet experience. For a sweet farewell, there are the legendary Kobarid štruklji, made according to grandma Pepca’s recipe, with soft dough and a rich filling of walnuts, raisins, and breadcrumbs.
