Sophia enchants with timeless elegance and a sense of discreet prestige. Stone columns, mighty chandeliers and an imposing fireplace are carefully restored original elements that give the space a magnificent, almost cinematic image. So are the dishes – the plates act as small works of art with pure flavors. The offer includes seasonally designed tasting menus or individual dishes that take guests through the interweaving of top ingredients, precise techniques and thoughtful combinations. The appetizers are light, with smoked trout fillet served with goat's milk cream cheese. The freshness is emphasized by green apple and fennel sorbet, while beluga caviar elegantly combines the flavors into a whole. Grilled shrimp is a seafood classic, steamed sea bass fillet is derived without superfluous moves, and baked pumpkin steak proves that even a vegetarian dish can confidently take the lead role. The sweet ending of the evening shows that Sophia leaves nothing to chance. The hazelnut pie is rich but sophisticated, and the sorbets are refreshing and intense. Sophia thus remains in the memory as a restaurant where the evening has its own rhythm: it begins in a magnificent ambience, continues on carefully thought-out plates and ends with the feeling that Portorož has turned into a real culinary stage for a few hours.
