In an industrial area of Koper, where one would expect only rigid lines and concrete, hides Restaurant Salicornia - a true oasis of elegance. With only a handful of tables, it creates an intimate atmosphere, while its warm hospitality offers the perfect escape from the city’s bustle. The dedicated team serves dishes that celebrate the flavours of the Adriatic. The raw fish dishes stand out in particular - carpaccio of fresh tuna or squid marinated in citrus and olive oil reveal freshness and minerality without unnecessary additions. The daily catch appears as tartare or sashimi, always touched with local herbs and lemon, or as oven-baked fish served with potatoes and vegetables. The homemade pljukanci with musky octopus are simply outstanding. The salicornia pesto is a true specialty, its salinity beautifully balanced by creamy stracciatella cheese. Fried salicornia completes the dish with the perfect crispy element. We also applauded the excellent oven-baked turbot, while the sommelier demonstrated remarkable sensitivity in pairing wines that elevated every bite. The wine list includes smaller boutique wineries rarely encountered elsewhere, enriching the entire culinary experience even further. Salicornia proves that the greatest surprises are often hidden in the most unexpected places - small in size, yet immense in heart and flavour.
