In the industrial zone of Koper, where you would expect only strict lines and concrete, there is the Salicornia Restaurant, a true oasis of elegance. With only a few tables, it creates an intimate atmosphere and with a hospitable reception, it provides the perfect place to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. The dedicated team serves dishes that honor the flavors of the Adriatic. Raw fish dishes stand out – fresh tuna carpaccio or squid marinated in citrus and olive oil, revealing freshness and minerality without unnecessary additives. The daily catch appears as tartare or sashimi, always with a hint of local herbs and lemon, or as fish in the oven accompanied by potatoes and vegetables. Homemade sprinkles with nutmeg octopus are simply excellent, the succulent pesto is a real specialty, the saltiness balances out the stracciatella. For a perfect bite, the fried succulent takes care of it, which adds a crunchy element. We also applauded the exquisite turbot from the oven, with the sommelier perfectly matching the wines with a refined feel, highlighting each bite. The wine list also includes smaller boutique wine houses that are rarely found elsewhere, enriching the overall culinary experience. Salicornia proves that real surprises are often hidden in unexpected corners – small in size, but big in heart and taste.
