Remarkable Restaurant
The road winding through the Alpine landscape is breathtaking. Every turn reveals a new view: green pastures, peaceful valleys, mysterious forests, and majestic peaks rising toward the sky. Traveling through these places feels like an escape into nature, where time itself has stood still. And behind the thick walls of the old farmhouse, lovingly restored by chef Tomaž Sovdat and his wife Yuki, an exceptional pastry chef, time is no master either. Clocks placed on the tables do not tick - they symbolize “frozen time.” Everything here is devoted to pleasure without stress or haste. Their culinary performance is outstanding. Using local and seasonal ingredients, they draw out intense, full flavours while preserving the lightness and elegance characteristic of the world’s finest restaurants. They also create a feast for all the senses with exotic touches, both through ingredients and techniques. At Mangrt, it is not unusual for spruce tips, black garlic, and yuzu citrus to appear together on the tasting menu. The local trout captivates with refinement, the chamois impresses with its rich flavour, and the perfectly roasted beef loin practically melts in the mouth. One final surprise arrives at the end: the desserts are extraordinary. Cosmopolitan, elegant, and seductive, each bite reveals luxurious layers of flavour. Creamy and light as a cloud, they create a sensation of softness, as though wrapping you in warm cotton. Pure harmony.
