Gault&Millau's review 2026

At Harfa, dishes often end up on camera before they reach the first bite. They are beautifully presented, but the restaurant never falls into the trap of decoration for its own sake. Every element on the plate has a purpose, contributing both flavour and colour, while precise execution and thoughtful combinations deliver on the promise of presentation. The meat trio combines house pâté, duck breast, beef tartare, and refreshing Teran wine jelly. Rolled beef carpaccio with herb-infused curd stands out for its tenderness and juiciness. Risottos, pasta dishes, and main courses such as duck breast, lamb, veal loin, oven-roasted octopus, and a wide selection of fish do not feel like a collection of options for every taste. Instead, they reflect a kitchen with a clear identity and direction. One of Harfa’s standout seafood dishes features succulent monkfish fillets wrapped in Vipava Valley bacon and herbs. They are served with boiled asparagus, Hollandaise sauce, and silky mashed potatoes, proving that the side dishes receive as much attention as the main ingredient. The aged sirloin steak, cooked medium-rare and served with pepper sauce, demonstrates the kitchen’s confidence with meat. The beef remains juicy and flavourful, while the sauce and crisp young roasted potatoes support rather than overshadow it. At Harfa, the meal does not end with the last savory bite. The true finale comes with the desserts - indulgent and tempting enough to keep guests lingering at the table just a little longer.
