Gault&Millau's review 2026

At the top of the hill, where the view gently descends towards the blue of the Adriatic, stands the Torkla House. Large glass surfaces provide a panoramic view of endless olive groves, Istrian houses and the sea. The culinary highlight is undoubtedly in the menu, which celebrates the gifts of the Adriatic. Fresh fish comes to the table grilled with just a drop of extra virgin olive oil, salt and pepper, making its natural sweetness and crunchiness of the skin shine through in its full beauty. The taste is clean, sweet and delicate, as if the sea itself brought a gift to the plate. Don't miss the shrimp with aioli sauce: juicy and fleshy, they melt in your mouth, wrapped in a creamy, garlic-rich sauce seasoned with lemon and fresh herbs. The sweet finale belongs to the Basque cheesecake with a slightly caramelized crust that melts like a cloud. Without the usual sweetness, but with an intense milk heart, it represents the perfect end to lunch or dinner. Dishes are supported by a glass of premium wine from a thoughtfully selected wine list. The Torkla House is not only a place for a good meal, but an experience of Slovenian Istria in its most authentic form. Each bite carries a story about the sea, olives and tradition, and the views make sure that the visit remains in the memory long after the last plate.
