Gault&Millau's review 2026

Hidden away in a narrow alley where the houses stand shoulder to shoulder and the scent of the sea mingles with the aromas of Mediterranean cuisine, lies a charming tavern. The space is small yet welcoming: rustic stone walls, wooden ceiling beams, a few tables outside on the street, and a handful tucked inside. The tavern is renowned for its seafood specialties, with the freshness of the catch setting the daily rhythm of the kitchen. The menu changes according to what the sea has to offer that day. The cooking is simple, yet masterful. Among the standout dishes are the scallops, prepared either on the grill or in the oven, quickly seared with just a little olive oil and garlic. This gives them a lightly crisp exterior while preserving a delicate, juicy center. Every bite feels pure and honest, without unnecessary embellishment. What the fishermen bring in during the morning lands on the plate the very same day - whether it is grilled sea bream with potatoes, roasted sea bass, or a mixed shellfish platter. The wine list consists primarily of local labels and wines from nearby regions. Gostišče Neptun is more than simply an address for a good meal. It is a place where Piran reveals its most welcoming face: fresh seafood, local wine, and a homely atmosphere that quickly persuades guests to linger a little longer. The perfect choice after a stroll along the coast or for a peaceful beginning to an evening in town.
