Gault&Millau's review2026
The restaurant in the heart of the Karst is one of the culinary classics that does not bow to fashion whims. Ravbar remains true to itself: homeliness, traditions and tastes that do not need complicated explanations. As a synonym for reliability and quality, it is a stop for all those looking for a pristine experience of the Karst. Top quality ingredients, proven recipes and hospitality that only a real family restaurant can do count here. The culinary march begins with prosciutto and continues with pasta: homemade ravioli are a constant, with cream of young peas, goat cheese mousse and sage butter with pistachios. Fluffy gnocchi are bathed in a delicious sauce made of sausage and kale and Parmesan cheese. The biggest house specialty remains the grilled cannelloni, which is more reminiscent of a flat folded pancake than a classic cannellone. Stuffed with prosciutto, cheese and roasted spinach, it takes up the entire plate, and the natural meat sauce with which it is topped is the reason why it smells intoxicating throughout the restaurant. The highlight of the meat part is the lamb from Vremščica, deliciously roasted in the oven, so juicy and tender that the ribs are bare peeled. Next to it, phenomenal baked potato rolls reign supreme. The winning combination continues in a sweet finish with fig pie, house custard or apple strudel.
