Pri Mari is not an inn that relies on fashionable shortcuts. Homemade bread, aspic with pumpkin seed oil, traditional pig slaughter dishes, kid goat, veal shank, and pork belly from the wood-fired oven create the feeling that you have stepped into a family-run inn where people still understand why a Sunday lunch is something special. The soups alone say enough: beef broth with a semolina dumpling and mushroom soup with porcini mushrooms – homemade, familiar, and without unnecessary explanation. The kitchen remains faithful to its roots while breathing modernity and freshness into them. The menu appeals to a variety of tastes, yet all dishes share two essential qualities: excellent ingredients and patient preparation. Beetroot carpaccio with fresh cheese and pistachios, along with stuffed ravioli on a buttery herb cream, cater to those who appreciate more contemporary flavours. Fried chicken is still prepared according to grandmother Mara’s recipe – a dish whose aroma evokes nostalgia from the very first bite. The house cream slice is likewise a tribute to authentic home cooking, the kind that cannot be imitated. And this is precisely where the charm of the inn lies. At first glance, it remains rural and homely. But once the plate arrives at the table, it becomes clear that nothing has been left to chance. The service is of a standard one would expect in a contemporary restaurant, while the traditional food is presented in a more refined form – different enough to surprise, yet authentic enough to remain true to itself.
