Chef's Restaurant
Do you enjoy dishes with a story behind them? At Pr ’Matičku, where the gifts of nature are celebrated, there are plenty to discover. Behind them stands chef Matjaž Erzar - Matiček - who, as a hunter, knows game cuisine down to the finest detail. And because game is truly the heart of this inn, it is the perfect destination for anyone unafraid of the bold, earthy flavours of Slovenian forests. The interior, filled with the warmth of rustic wood and soft lighting, creates a welcoming refuge where every visit becomes a journey through the richness of the seasons. A hearty game meat soup warms both body and soul. Naturally, the carpaccio is made from venison, as is the steak, which is served with excellent traditional mlinci. Tender roasted venison leg is accompanied by cranberry sauce and chestnut purée, combining intense wild aromas with delicate sweetness. The menu depends on the hunting season, so wild boar may occasionally be replaced by domestic pork, while other meats and fish are also prepared. The dishes are rooted in outstanding seasonal ingredients, something clearly felt in every bite. The plates are not only beautifully composed; they deliver flavours that linger in the memory. And it is precisely because of the stories they tell that this is a place worth returning to in every season. For a sweet finale, the rich and juicy layers of Prekmurska gibanica are guaranteed to delight every single time.
