Gault&Millau's review 2026

It begins with a steaming bowl of soup, the aroma of home cooking, and the pleasant expectation that something substantial is about to arrive at the table. At Gostilna Pr’ Kopač, fried chicken is not just a dish - it is a ritual. The crust crackles with every bite, the meat remains juicy, and guests quickly understand why they keep coming back for it. The menu has the breadth of a true traditional Slovenian inn. Soups, pork knuckles, roasts, traditional pork specialties, štruklji, fish dishes, desserts, and house specialties cater to a wide range of tastes. Some guests stop by for a quick lunch, while others settle in for a longer meal, but they are all looking for the same thing: honest food prepared with generosity and flavour, complemented by friendly and attentive service. Part of the restaurant’s charm lies in dishes that modern dining often overlooks. One example is žolca (aspic), a traditional specialty that still has a place here. Pr’ Kopač understands that a Slovenian inn cannot live on nostalgia alone. Classic dishes are presented in a way that keeps them relevant, while lighter and more contemporary options also have a place on the menu. Strudel, cream cake, pancakes, and a variety of cakes stay true to the spirit of the kitchen and reinforce what Pr’ Kopač is all about: a restaurant with a healthy appetite, where traditional food still matters and where meals are not rushed. Guests leave with more than a full stomach. They leave with the feeling that a good, honest inn can still go straight to the heart.
