Gault&Millau's review 2026

Family and tradition are values reflected in the dishes served at Mihovec Inn, where the family skilfully combines life on their farm with hospitality. Homemade flatbread with cracklings, onion, and caraway provides a warm welcome. The menu features traditional aspic with egg and pumpkin seed oil, one of those dishes that is becoming increasingly rare to find in inns today. The beef for the steak tartare is hand-cut, and the dish shines in the company of a refined horseradish sauce, marinated pearl onions, Jerusalem artichoke crisps, and homemade hemp butter. The aroma of rich beef broth drifts from the kitchen, while juicy veal shank or roast is best enjoyed alongside sautéed potatoes with cracklings and a bowl of homemade salad. During the winter season, the traditional pig slaughter feast dishes are not to be missed – grilled sausage served with sour turnips and cracklings is one of those meals that lingers in the memory. A Mihovec classic is sautéed veal liver with seasonal asparagus, wild garlic, or chanterelles, prepared with care and without unnecessary embellishment. Crispy strudel with a juicy filling is always available, although the sweet selection also changes with the seasons. This is part of their charm: nothing is forced, and nothing requires grand display. Guests return for the feeling that what arrives on the plate is genuine, warm, and honest.
