Gault&Millau's review 2026

Ančka doesn't need big words. It is enough to sit down at the table, order the classics and after just a few bites understand why some pubs stick around not for the sake of fashion, but for the sake of trust. We don't come here to guess what's going to be on the plate, but because we know what to expect. The staff is friendly and helpful, the guest in the spotlight, while the kitchen is dominated by the legendary dumplings – cheese, buckwheat and chocolate, which can be used as a side dish or as a stand-alone dish. Of course, a good restaurant must have a hearty beef soup, and Carniolan sausage is also indispensable, it was served with roasted potatoes, mustard and horseradish. It is also worth noting the stewed beef in a spicy sauce with chives dumplings, but it should be added that the portions are fair and filling. If you have enough space left to try the legendary štrukli as a dessert, you won't regret it, but otherwise you can end up with pancakes. The menu during the season is complemented by rustic dishes, such as blood sausages or sirloins with cabbage or turnips and cracklings, which confirm that Ančka remains a true home inn in the most beautiful sense of the word – a place where you eat well and remember why we love such houses without much philosophy.
