At Domačija Gaube, everything begins with a sense of home: the welcoming atmosphere, the warmth of the surroundings, and ingredients that speak for themselves without the need for elaborate explanations. From the moment you step inside, there is an immediate feeling of comfort. A record player quietly spinning in the corner adds to the charm, creating the impression that you have arrived somewhere where guests are genuinely cared for. The estate focuses on multi-course menus that do not seek quick impressions but instead invite diners on a carefully paced journey through flavours. Each course is rooted in local ingredients and seasonal produce, revealing the character of the region through thoughtfully composed dishes. The ingredients themselves are often simple, yet always chosen with great attention to quality. In the hands of the chef, they are transformed into plates that are not only visually appealing but also full of personality and meaning. A house platter of cured meats and cheeses is enhanced by delicate cones filled with fresh cheese and crisp pumpkin-seed bites. Homemade gnocchi, soft and perfectly light, are paired with seasonal sauces that bring the flavours together into a rich and satisfying dish. Meat lovers leave well satisfied, while those with a sweet tooth are equally rewarded. In fine weather, the terrace becomes one of the estate’s greatest attractions, offering a relaxed setting in which to enjoy the surroundings.
