Set along the riverside in Ljubljana’s historic center, Barra brings together a contemporary urban atmosphere and a cuisine inspired by the meeting point of Japanese techniques and Peruvian flavours. Its intimate interior and pleasant terrace create a relaxed setting, while the kitchen focuses on carefully prepared dishes built around fresh ingredients and thoughtfully balanced flavour combinations. The menu places particular emphasis on sushi rolls. Alongside classic combinations, guests will find more playful creations featuring tempura prawns, avocado, roasted onion, spicy mayonnaise, and tare sauce. These rolls are rich and expressive, yet sufficiently balanced for each ingredient to retain its own character. For lovers of raw fish, the salmon tiradito is a standout choice. Delicate slices of salmon are paired with passion fruit sauce, while crispy fried sweet potato introduces a welcome contrast in texture and a touch of sweetness that complements the dish beautifully. Among the warm plates, the baked scallops deserve special attention. Served with Japanese butter, Parmesan, and citrus juice, they achieve a harmonious balance between richness, salinity, and freshness.
