Aviopub, located beside the sports airfield near Postojna and along the regional road toward Rijeka, is best known for its contemporary takes on classic dishes. It attracts both loyal regulars and passing visitors who appreciate good food in an interesting location with a relaxed atmosphere. To begin, the beef roast impresses immediately: thinly sliced and served on fresh arugula, sprinkled with toasted pine nuts, and accompanied by juicy tomatoes and creamy burrata. The generous salad also draws attention. Crispy pancetta beautifully complements the freshness of radicchio and shredded cabbage, joined by beans, carrots, and a softly cooked egg, all brought together with a horseradish dressing. Although the plate feels light, it is hearty and substantial enough to stand comfortably as a meal on its own. The same can be said for the delicious serving of potatoes au gratin, infused with rich smoked mozzarella and complemented by colourful seasonal vegetables. Crispy onions provide textural contrast, while silky herb-infused sour cream adds freshness to the dish. For meat lovers, the kitchen prepares a succulent, delicately cooked pork tenderloin with aromatic porcini mushrooms and prosciutto, accompanied by beautifully golden-seared polenta. The menu also features pizzas and generously filled burgers. One thing is certain - no guest leaves hungry, as the selection is diverse and the portions impressively generous.
