Without knowledge, discipline, precision, training, courage, concentration... there is no top-notch sommeliership. Simona Česen has it all and strengthens the reputation of Slovenian sommelier with her example. He does not understand wine as an exhibition of prestigious labels, but as a living story that the sommelier must be able to read, understand and bring closer to the guest without loftiness. He doesn't just look for the right answer in the glass, he knows how to create an experience out of it, and he does it convincingly and without superfluous glare. She remains curious because wine is a world in which the finish line does not exist. And that is why the award for the best sommelier carries an important message: that in the world of wine, knowledge, feeling and dedication count above all – regardless of gender.
