New Gault&Millau Croatia Guide 2019
On Tuesday, March 5th 2019, Gault&Millau Croatia launched their second yellow guide at their gala ceremony in the Esplanade Zagreb Hotel.
The guide includes 150 best rated Croatian restaurants, 70 POP locales, 113 premium and quality wines and 25 leading hotels from all over Croatia.
During this important evening for Croatian gastronomic scene, annual Gault&Millau trophies, the so-called culinary Oscars, were awarded to the best chefs and restaurants.
The four-hands gala dinner was prepared by Mrs Ana Grgić, The great chef of tomorrow 2018 and chef de cuisine of the restaurant Zinfandel's within the Esplanade Hotel, and Mr Igor Jagodic, chef of the restaurant Strelec in Ljubljana, who recently received the Chef of the year 2019 trophy by Gault&Millau Slovenia.
Mr Jacques Bally, the new Gault&Millau CEO and Mr Vladislav Skvortsov, the new Gault&Millau chief investor were present at the ceremony and supported the awardees in the following categories:
Mr Hrvoje Zirojević, chef de cuisine of the Laganini restaurant on Palmižana was awarded with the Gault&Millau Chef of the year 2019 trophy.
Four Croatian restaurants were crowned with four Gault&Millau toques and awarded as the best Croatian restaurants: restaurant 360from Dubrovnik, restaurant Monte from Rovinj, restaurant Pelegrini from Šibenik and aforementioned restaurant Laganini.
This year, two chefs were awarded with the Great chef of tomorrow 2019 trophy: Mr Fabricio Vežnaver, chef de cuisine of the restaurant Pergola in Savudrija and Mr Matija Bregeš, chef de cuisine of the restaurant Boškinac on the island of Pag.
Mr Vesna Miletić, chef de cuisine of the restaurant Tač in Zagreb received the Traditional cuisine chef of the year 2019 trophy. Mr Tino Sinožić, chef de cuisine of the restaurant Navis from Opatija received the trophy in the Young talent of the year 2019 category. Chef de cuisine of the restaurant Konoba Mate on the island of Korčula, Biljana Milina, received the Pastry chef 2019 trophy. Paradox Wine&Cheese bar won The best POP 2019 trophy.
