Sophia enchants with timeless elegance and an atmosphere of discreet prestige. Stone columns, grand chandeliers, and an imposing fireplace are carefully restored original features that lend the space a majestic, almost cinematic character. The dishes mirror this impression - plates that resemble small works of art built around pure, refined flavours. The menu offers seasonally designed tasting menus as well as individual dishes, guiding guests through a journey of exceptional ingredients, precise techniques, and thoughtfully balanced combinations. The starters are light and elegant: smoked trout fillet is served with creamy goat cheese, while green apple and fennel sorbet enhance the freshness. Beluga caviar ties the flavours together with understated sophistication. The grilled scampi are a timeless seafood classic, while the steamed sea bass fillet is executed with admirable restraint and precision. The roasted pumpkin steak proves that a vegetarian dish can just as confidently take center stage. The sweet finale of the evening demonstrates that Sophia leaves nothing to chance. The hazelnut tart is rich yet refined, while the sorbets are refreshing and intensely flavoured. Sophia remains memorable as a restaurant where the evening unfolds with its own rhythm: it begins in a magnificent setting, continues through meticulously considered plates, and ends with the feeling that Portorož has transformed, for a few hours, into a true culinary stage.
