L'avis de Gault&Millau

Brič is located right next to the formerly very busy road between Ljubljana and Koper, which is not so busy anymore so the guests can enjoy the restaurant with a nice garden peacefully. The interior and exterior look like many other tourist stops at the seaside from years ago, but the offer of food and wine is something completely different. Even though the menu is quite long, Brič is famous for excellent seafood. The sea bass carpaccio is not only interesting because they prepare it in front of the guest; it is a culinary experience also for the creative combinations of citrus fruits, pomegranate and chestnut honey. A gentle taste of fresh fish was nicely accentuated by lemon and orange zest, pomegranate seeds provided some additional texture and the bitter honey connected all of the flavours together and raised them onto a new level. Sometimes, “less is more” is truly the best way to go. They make most of the pasta themselves and combine it with wonderful sauces – all of them were simply delicious and we definitely recommend the classic fuži with truffles or pljukanci with scampi. We thought the most creative ones were the black tagliatelle with tomato sauce, zucchini and shrimp. The tomato basis had been cooking long and slow and became a canvas for the whole pallet of flavours that joined it at the end. We finished with fish, of course. Our flounder was excellent, not too fatty and baked perfectly. You can pair your food with wines from a long wine list that shows they have a top-notch sommelier in the house. You can order any of the wines by the glass, so visiting Brič is also a great opportunity to taste the queen of their wine list, Malvasia
