L'avis de Gault&Millau
In an elegant restaurant with a beautiful view of the church at Sveta Gora and the Solkan Bridge with the biggest stone arch in the world, you will get a great amount of hospitality and kindness. You will feel like you have come to visit friends or family. The whole Žabar family works together, either cooking in the kitchen or serving and giving their all to make you feel welcome. The culinary offer is a classic Mediterranean one, but do not expect experiments or unusual culinary combinations. If you desire some tartare, you will get either beef or fish and the carpaccio is also made with either beef, tuna or swordfish. They offer only the freshest seafood, from raw scampi and prawns to excellent fish, which you can order grilled or baked in the oven or salt. Octopus is wonderful both in a salad or grilled. They also make homemade pasta with fresh mussels or delicious scampi, the risotto can be either white or black, depending on the seafood in it. If you prefer meat, you will truly enjoy the roast beef with seasonal sides. The wine list includes wines from Primorska, stressing Lisjak wines, which are produced by their family members. Let go and enjoy the excellent classics and if you order fish, definitely try the Lisjak Pinot blanc, too. We paid 50 euros for a 6-course tasting menu. You won’t be sorry!
