At Šiker you will never be alone, this restaurant is namely well known for miles around. Guests come to this place because their parents and grandparents used to come here, they come because they know what they will eat, and because they know that whatever they order, it will taste great. Employees at Šiker are well aware of this, and therefore, the menu barely changes. And that is just the way it should be! The menu consists of a few dishes that are especially popular, and if you decide on the tasting menu, order at least one of the Šiker classics. We decided on pan roasted veal liver with roasted potatoes and were more than happy. The liver was soft and juicy, with just the right amount of sauce which was not too thick and heavy. It was rather light and just perfect for dabbing it first with the potatoes, then with home-baked bread with cracklings. We continued our lunch with homemade ravioli on wild garlic foam. The sauce made with the wild herb the Slovenian people especially love was intense and balanced the light cream cheese filling well. Pine nuts in the sauce were perfect for extra sweetness and texture. When you decide to visit Šiker, the decision on which dessert to order will be made before you even enter the restaurant. That will be the famous Charlotte cake, which they themselves call the queen of the house. They have been making it for more than fifty years and during this time, their Charlotte became as famous in the Štajerska region as the cream cake is in Bled or donuts in Trojane. You must not leave it out during any visit, sometimes it even is the reason for visiting Šiker.
