Why not use an ordinary day for a trip to treat yourself with an extraordinary lunch? Or enjoy a tasting menu of pristine flavours for a special occasion? The location is romantic and chef Andrej Smogavc has used his vision to enchant the most wonderful day for so many newlyweds already. But the view from the top of the hill is not the only reason why guests love coming back here: they get a warm welcome every time, followed by modern, creative dishes paired with wines from the Zlati grič winery. The menu is short but it is still difficult to decide which dish to leave out. Even though they have a modern approach to cuisine, they never forget about traditions and the beef and mushroom soups are perfect examples of that. Chef Smogavc works with local distributers and he incorporates them creatively into his plates while he boldly looks for inspiration around the world. You can order rabbit, which is a rare guest on Slovenia’s menus, just like zander and codfish. The meat they serve is always juicy and wonder fully prepared – try the veal back or Mangalitsa pig cheeks. They are complemented nicely by creative side dishes that offer a wonderful combination of taste and texture: white polenta, vegetable cream of chestnut foam. The chef loves to pamper his guests so you will make him happiest if you decide for the tasting menu, in which he can truly express his ideas. Each plate is carefully prepared and executed and the prices are friendly as well.
