L'avis de Gault&Millau
Belica homestead first takes your breath away with its wonderful location that offers a view of the Alps all the way to the Adriatic Sea and the people charm you with the warmest welcome. Love at first bite happens with the ultimate prosciutto, šalam and other meat products that Zlatko Mavrič ages at this homestead. The restaurant ’s offer is local and the menu changes weekly, following the seasons. They pour their own wines and are especially famous for Rebula, which you absolutely must try. The homestead also has comfy rooms for their guests and you can even enjoy their swimming pool. Apart from some constants, they offer two different menus every day and they get the inspiration from traditional cuisine and add creative elements for a more modern look of plates. This makes them even more interesting, even though they still cook just as they used to in the olden days. The minestrone is rich with ingredients just like the one grandma used to make, the frtalja with herbs is something you simply cannot skip and the risottos and pasta dishes are truly amazing. But the meat … oh, la la! Its rich, juicy flavours have long been a constant on their menu and when you taste it, you will understand their philosophy: enchanting perfection from a topnotch ingredient without complicating or adding unnecessary things. Let it be the pork tenderloin, wonderfully marinated steaks or a deer fillet, everything is amazingly prepared and incredibly flavourful. If you spend the night there, you will start the day with a rich breakfast that will make you feel like home, so that you will stay for lunch, too. A warm pear pie or a rich strudel will make your day one of the most memorable ones.
