Ambitious but true to themselves! This is Cubo restaurant, one of the most popular ones in Ljubljana. The service is professional and friendly, the rooms are elegant and both terraces are perfect for light summer lunches, business meetings, romantic evenings or cocktails with friends. The whole restaurant is under the watchful eye of Boštjan Trstenjak, the soul of the restaurant who devotes his attention to each and every visitor and knows the favourite dishes of all the regular guests. If you aren’t in a hurry, get the tasting menu: we chose the one with 5 courses for 50 euros. After the traditional chef’s greeting with beef carpaccio on thin slices of fresh kohlrabi and honey mustard. Pure tastes for pure pleasure. The veal, slowly cooked and then fried, with a crispy golden brown crust, sweet and creamy parsnip purée, white beans in the form of cream and grain – together with their wine pairing from a long wine list is perfect harmony. Just like every other dish that followed. No matter if you decide for pasta or risotto, meat or fish: all the plates will not only feed you but awaken very simple feelings of pure happiness. And oh, the desserts! So very sinful but after every bite you will want more and more. They have published two cookbooks and share their recipes generously on their website, including all those little secrets that guarantee a successful outcome even for amateur cooks.
